Pre-loved School Uniform Swap

For many in the UK, the prospect of buying a new school uniform for their children is a daunting prospect. At high cost and quickly too small for growing children, the school uniform can be an appreciable dent in the spending many families make.

To help alleviate this need, local group Freeuse setup free popup shops, to help share pre-loved but no longer needed uniforms – and will be doing so from the St Mark’s room in St Marks Church on Monday 28th October from 2pm to 3pm! Do you have old school uniforms from your own children, no longer needed? If you have donations of preloved school uniform, any age group, please donate them at the Musketeer! Pennington Junior School office or the Fish and Chip shop in the square.

Can you help us host visitors for an hour on Monday afternoon? Please speak with Rachel if you’re able to help with refreshments on the day.

All Souls Remembering Service

Join us on Sunday 27th October at 3pm for our annual reflective service to remember loved ones that have died. Service to be followed by refreshments and an opportunity to enjoy the peace and calm of our church, as we reflect on those who have come before and all they mean to us.

Harvest Craft Club

One for the kids! – come and join Christians Together, Lymington and Pennington for a morning of crafts, cooking and lots of fun guaranteed! Coming up on Thursday 31st October from 10am until 11:30am at Lymington’s United Reformed Church.

FREE and available to all: Contact Jan on 07885571197 for more information or email childrenfamiliesurclym@btinternet.com

Christmas is coming: can you help?

Pennington Community Events are ramping up in preparation towards Christmas 2019 – and are hoping to build on the successes of our Christmas event of 2018 and the summer event on the common earlier this year – with Pennington Christmas Lights on December 6th!

If you wish to host a stall, or know of anyone who does, application forms can be found on the Community Events webpage – www.penningtoncommunityevents.uk. Equally, if you want to join the committee to help plan and organise the event, they are keen to accept volunteers: please speak with Paul, Teresa or Rachel for further information.

Pilgrim Course – The Commandments

Our Pilgrim sessions are returning in the day too, taking the topic of the Commandments to task! Our fourth session is on Monday 4th November at 11am, and continues on the 18th November – to conclude on the 9th December (note, this has changed from the 2nd December to the 9th – but you are invited to enjoy mince pies with us on this last session!). Join us in the St Mark’s room!

Climate Emergency Talk

We are fortunate in having two excellent speakers at Brockenhurst Village Hall speaking on the current Climate Emergency at 7:00pm on Friday 8th November. Free entry, flyers with further details are available at the back of church. This promises to be an informative evening, promoted by the New Forest Zero Carbon Alliance.

Sing-a-long from the world wars

The Downton Brass Band will be playing a wide selection of songs from World War 1 and 2 at St Michael’s Church, High Street, Lyndhurst on Saturday 9th November 2019 at 4pm.  This is a ‘sing-a-long’ event which should prove a great afternoon for all – including local dementia groups and supporting families in the parish.

Tickets are £8 with 1 carer and children free.
