Our director of music, Leigh Jerwood, also sings in an a cappella group:
‘Straight Bananas’. Singing a variety of eclectic music including music hall, comedy, classical, folk and pop including of course some Christmas music!
Looking back to something we did in the autumn of last year – and something we hope to take part in again in 2020!
With Christmas Day only a week away, St Mark’s tests the lighting with a fun carol and readings evening, culminating in the somewhat frenetic Twelve Days of Christmas.
A how to guide for churches with open trussed roof beams, who want to hang Christmas lighting creatively above the congregation. All you need is a drone, fishing line, pink twine and good company…
A selection of photographs taken in the run up to Advent 2019. Thank you to all who help St Mark’s do all we do – we’re proud of our church but it’s our congregation that make St Mark’s what it is!
Celebrating Woodside Singers 40th anniversary and including favourites from Oliver, the Sound of Music, Oklahoma and more, the Woodside Singers entertained a packed St Mark’s on a sunny autumn afternoon!
On the 6th October, St Mark’s celebrated harvest! With a service that included a focus on the hard but important work of fair trade organisations, the grateful donations of food and house hold goods for New Forest Basics Bank and a lunch catered for by the excellent staff of Lanes of Lymington!
In the Autumn we aim, with the help of the Community, to spend a day giving the churchyard an extra clear up – covering more areas than our monthly helpers can manage. Our sincere thanks to all who assisted in with refreshments and those who flexed their muscles, to clear away weeds, brambles and bushes that have taken root through the churchyard!
A few from our congregation recently took part in Ride and Stride. An annual charity event in support of the Hampshire and the Islands Historic Churches trust (www.hihct.org.uk), it encourages participants to travel to churches and chapels across the region.
David, the Bishop of Basingstoke lead a confirmation service at St Mark’s Church, Pennington on Sunday 28th April at 3pm. Many from St Mark’s congregation, as well as from neighbouring St Thomas’s Church in Lymington and All Saints in Milford came to show their support for our candidates Bev and Alex as they were confirmed – and Lauren as she was baptised – together with candidates from Lymington and Milford.
