With Advent not far behind us and the memory of the Christingle fresh, what about an apple ‘Baptingle’?
An apple represents the world, encircled by a blue ribbon which stands for the waters of baptism. Into the apple are placed four cocktail sticks – a heart sweet representing God’s love on one, a jelly baby to represent the new life in baptism, a doodle of faces to mark the Godparents and supporters of the baptism candidate, the name of the candidate – and a candle in the centre to mark the light of Christ above all.
