Bishops Commission for Mission – Licencing Service

On Saturday 12th October at 11am, the licencing service for those who have completed recent Bishops Commission for Mission (BCM) and other lay ministry streams is taking place at Winchester Cathedral.

One active in our congregation, Sandy – has recently completed a BCM with a focus of children and families – but sadly, will not be able to take part in this celebratory service. Do please go to support all those who are celebrating that day, and we’ll confirm when we can celebrate Sandy’s achievement, at a later date!

Meditation Group

The Meditation group will meet on Monday 14th October at 2:30pm with a theme of autumn.  This time is open to anybody who would like to spend a time of quiet reflection on a theme.

Pilgrim Course – The Commandments

Our Pilgrim sessions are returning in the day too, taking the topic of the Commandments to task! Our third session is on Monday 21th October at 11am, and continues on the 4th and 18th November and concluding on the 2nd December. Join us in the St Mark’s room!

Global Wave of Light

It’s baby loss awareness week from the 9th to the 15th October: a time to acknowledge and remember the many precious babies that have died so young, some before their families got to meet them. Holding in prayer the many people that may be grieving at this time, often hidden.

On the 15th October at 7pm is the Global Wave of Light where all are invited to join with other families at this time and light a candle – to remember all the babies that have died too soon.

Poppies for Remembrance!

If you’ve been making poppies, please make sure they’re brought to church, or added to one of the bags in the village by the 20th October.

At 7pm on Tuesday 22nd October, do join us in St Mark’s Church, to assemble all the new poppies together. No previous experience necessary! We’ll be sitting in St Mark’s Room, using cable ties to attach them to net fencing. All welcome!

A reminder…

Please note there is no mid-week communion service on Wednesday 16th October.

Capturing memories of St Mark’s

We’re eager to document St Mark’s over the decades – and would welcome any photographs visitors to our church may have taken, and would like to share with us! Weddings, funerals, baptisms, confirmations, events and special services: our church is often central to the community – would you have photos you can share with enquiries@penningtonchurch.uk at all?
