More about the Pennington Easter Yarn…

We’re planning two things for Pennington Churchyard Hedge this spring:

  • Knitted & Crocheted Flowers
  • Painted/ Decorated shapes

Knitted & Crocheted Flowers

If you, or anyone that you know enjoys knitting & crochet, please invite them to join in Pennington’s latest yarn bomb project. We’re aiming to decorate the churchyard hedge with knitted spring flowers, easter eggs and crosses – and we’re inviting everyone to join in making them to go on the hedge. I’ve attached some starter patterns, but feel free to use any patterns or yarn that you like.

Download our patterns guide here.

Paper patterns (and drop off points for completed items) are available at:

  • Pennington Pharmacy,
  • Pennington One Stop,
  • The Musketeer,
  • The Wheel Inn,
  • Visual Vibes,
  • Oakhaven Hospice Craft Shop (Lymington)

Painted/ Decorated shapes

We recognise that knitting & crochet aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.

I am also working on collecting plastic sign waste, that can be decorated to also go on this hedge. We’re thinking that it could be cut into shapes, including easter eggs, crosses and so forth.

If you’re leading any groups that you think would like to decorate one or more shapes – they would need to be decorated in a way that is weatherproof – for example, acrylic paints. Please let me know, and we can chat further. We’ve got a very large hedge, so we’re happy for as many groups as want to engage in this to get involved!

Please pray, that through all this work, it will help open up conversations and engagement about the message of Jesus’ hope and love that we’re trying to share in this community.

Best wishes,
Rachel
