To sell, newspapers need to be sensationalist; good news it seems doesn’t sell copies as well as bad news does. Does it seem as if the news you read is too severe, too dramatic, too big for you to manage?
On the 6th October, St Mark’s celebrated harvest! With a service that included a focus on the hard but important work of fair trade organisations, the grateful donations of food and house hold goods for New Forest Basics Bank and a lunch catered for by the excellent staff of Lanes of Lymington!
For our Harvest Festival service, Maureen Harris, a member of neighbouring St Thomas’ Church in Lymingon and active in Traidcraft, talked to us about the importance of buying fairly traded goods – and why it makes a difference to the lives and communities of the growers and producers of items we take for granted.
In the Autumn we aim, with the help of the Community, to spend a day giving the churchyard an extra clear up – covering more areas than our monthly helpers can manage. Our sincere thanks to all who assisted in with refreshments and those who flexed their muscles, to clear away weeds, brambles and bushes that have taken root through the churchyard!
Notices for Sunday 6th October, with details of our upcoming services and events at St Mark’s. Can you join us on Saturday 5th, where from 10am we’ll be digging in to tidy the churchyard?
Pick an eco-system that is close to your heart and pray with positive intention for that place. Perhaps focus your prayer on a plant, an animal or what this place means to you – and thank God for his wisom and grace in creation for this. Pray to ask how you can make a difference to help the niche you’re focusing on – and in doing so, you can help to be a positive force of change.
The November edition of our parish magazine is available now in church: but why not download the last edition now? Want to advertise in our magazine – get in touch with us to find out more!
God’s gifts to us and the flourishing of God’s creation are clear. The world is God’s perfect gift to us; all we have is God’s gift to us and is the foundation of our worship. But; we are threatening the balance of our world through exceeding balances through our greed and overuse – and through our actions, we are making many of God’s creatures extinct.
Notices for Sunday 29th September, with details of our upcoming events and services.
Coming together with others in prayer can be a meaningful experience, as we share with one another our faith and gratitude. However, sometimes we may not feel comfortable in vocalising our prayer. This method can help us come together in prayer, but overcome that reluctance to say out loud the desires in our heart.
