West Gallery & Straight Banana Christmas Concert

Sunday 12th December at 2pm, St Mark’s Church
It is with regret that the planned performance from West Gallery & Straight Banana on the afternoon of the 12th has unfortunately been cancelled.

Due to Covid isolation by a number of performers and the updated guidance in regards to the Omicron variant, we would prefer to postpone this event to a time when we can more comfortably open our church to a larger number of visitors – and entertain you with a full strength performance.

Treemendous Celebration

3,000 lights and 100 trees lighting up Pennington by Christmas Eve – and we need your help to make it happen! Decorate a hand crafted wooden tree or display a light for the community, ready for the 10th December.

A volunteer in the village is busy cutting out over 100 wooden 2D Christmas Trees (each 1.2m high) which will be secured to the church hedge – from the 10th December, and the forest of trees will continue to grow as more are return.

The Trees will be available to collect from Friday 3rd December – in the front garden of the Vicarage, Ramley Road, Pennington, SO41 8HF.

We ask for a £5 donation towards your tree-mendous canvas – your donation going towards this and future community events managed by St Mark’s Church, Pennington.

We’ve more information about this event here.

Belmore Lodge Carol Service

On 15th December at 2pm we will be singing carols for the residents at Belmore Lodge. All are welcome so please come along to join in the singing. As we will be singing outside the home please dress accordingly.

Christingle pressgang!

Come and join us on Wednesday 22nd December in church, where we prepare for Christmas Eve’s Christingle service! We’re assembling Christingles (socially distanced and masked, but bring your own cup and we will fill it with coffee) and need your nimble fingers to help the assemble, from 10:15am.

Get involved; would you like to contribute with readings or intercessions?

Key parts of a church services are in sharing the wisdom within our Bibles and through prayer, giving thanks and sharing our fears and concerns with our loving God.

If you would like to contribute to the work we do in the form of the readings or leading in prayer, do please get in touch – we’d love to include you in our services. You don’t have to be able to be in the building for reading either; we can include you pre-recorded too!

Get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.

Christmas Lunch by St Thomas Church

St Thomas’ usual Christmas Day lunch was unfortunately abandoned this year as no co-ordinator could be found. However, a parishioner Nigel Lang has very kindly and enthusiastically just stepped into the breach and he wishes to alert all the usual guests who were, hitherto contacted with the earlier sad news – along with any others on their own who would like to come as well.

There will be a lunch at St Thomas after all! If there are people who would like to attend Nigel’s contact details are:  01590 672826
