Funeral for Jean Denham

Long standing member of our church family, Jean Denham has recently passed away.  All are welcome to attend her funeral service here at St Marks – at 11:30am on Tuesday 20th August.

Celebrating the Peace at our 10am Service

The PCC agreed at their meeting last Wednesday that we should be able to revert to how we previously celebrated the Peace by being able to shake hands and move around the church. If you wish to stay in your pew and wave as previously then please feel free to continue.

Making Mechanical Marvels in Pennington

St Barbe are running free craft sessions at the hall on Monday 5th and Monday 19th of August from 11am to 12:30pm ‘Making Mechanical Marvels in Pennington’. Free to all!

Friendship Tea

Our Friendship Tea team are having a well-earned summer break in August. So the next Friendship Tea will be on September 3rd from 2.30pm. Have a good summer holiday and see you in September ready to share your news over tea/coffee and deliciously good cakes. Our thanks to Pat and Shirley and the team for organising the teas throughout the year.

Pennington WI tea and cake afternoon

Pennington Wi are holding a Tea and Cake Afternoon for Breast Cancer on Saturday 17th August from 2pm-4pm in St. Mark’s Community Hall.  There will be a raffle together with various stalls and sideshows.  So come along with your friends, have fun, eat delicious cake and support the WI to raise funds for this very worthy cause.

Study Group Update

The study group are taking a break in August for the holiday season.

Summer Fair

Our Summer Fair will be held on Saturday 31st August from 10 – 12 noon in Pennington Community Hall. There is a basket at the back of church for donations for our fair – jigsaws, books, craft items, bricabrac etc. There will be a list at the back of church for volunteers for stalls, making cakes or helping with refreshments.

Pennington Community Hub

The Fareshare Larder continues it’s successful work on Thursday in the Community Hall. But, for the moment we are not meeting afterwards from 2-4pm for refreshments. We are looking into alternative ideas for continuing this outreach work to strengthen the work in our community

Ecochurch Recycling

  • Milk Bottle tops: we are now collecting these as Stewarts Garden Centre are turning these into garden furniture!
  • Ground coffee/coffee bean packets: a notice at the back of church shows which bags are now being collected. Please support our effort to reduce waste.

Daily Prayer

With St Thomas in Lymington, we continue to ‘pray for our nation, for its leaders, its health and essential services and all those who suffer’ this week at 9am on Zoom. Led by members of St Mark’s and St Thomas congregations, this now runs Monday through Friday.

Daily prayer is also taking place in St Thomas church from 9am on Saturdays

Coming together, we offer daily prayer for the situation in Ukraine.
