St Mark’s Covid Survey

Recently, we asked you for your thoughts about the practices we introduced following our ability to return to in-building services following Covid pandemic lockdown restrictions being relaxed. Thank you for all who took the time to complete this survey: it’s clear from your responses that we are individually in different places regarding the measures we had introduced to help protect against the risks of Covid. Your PCC has taken your feedback and taken the decisions to:

  • Prior to communion, a verger will ask you to use hand sanitiser before inviting you to take communion; however, allow those proceeding to communion to queue rather than to go up individually.
  • As you approach the rail to take communion, if you would prefer to kneel at the rail instead of standing to receive communion, you are quite welcome to do so. Numbers at the altar for communion will not be restricted.
  • We will be reintroducing the offering plate / bags within the service, bringing the gifts of the congregation to the altar before communion.
  • For our 10am services, we will continue with members of the congregation exchanging the Peace in a socially distanced manner.
  • For our 10am services, we will continue with the service starting from the front of church, rather than with an opening procession.
  • The choir would continue to be unrobed.

RNLI Service – Sunday 24th July

The annual RNLI Lifeboat service is coming up on Sunday 24th July from 5pm at the bandstand Bath Road Recreation Ground in Lymington. The service will be conducted by Canon Andrew Neaum, the Town Band will be playing and the choir of St Thomas’ will be leading the singing.

Rachel is moving to a new parish

The Screwtape Letters

  • Tuesday 13th September, 7:30pm at Ashley Baptist Church, New Milton
  • Wednesday 14th September – Friday 16th September, 7:30pm at St Saviour’s Church, Brockenhurst

The Screwtape Letters is an award-winning satirical comedy that is now touring the UK for it’s 8th year. Nigel Forde’s “sparkling script” and David Robinson’s “impressive Screwtape” (The Stage) bring to life Lewis’ classic book – which has sold millions of copies worldwide.

The story is set in Professor Screwtape’s study in the timeless dominion of Hell. The play follows Screwtape’s attempts to train his junior devils, including his protégé Wormwood, in the fine art of temptation. It remains faithful to the original text, characters and themes created by Lewis and holds three Edinburgh Fringe ‘Sell-Out Show’ awards.

Tickets £12 for adults, £6 for children; for more information and to reserve tickets, call 01590 624584 – or email ‘office@brockenhurstchurch.com‘.
