Service pattern in May
As pandemic restrictions are relaxing in the UK, here at St Mark’s we’re likewise welcoming you back into our building for worship. We’re still working out what works best for an in-building service, taking into account the restrictions that are still in play; and we’re also looking into what times for services works best too, for those coming to St Mark’s.
Through May, we will be hosting on every Sunday an 8am BCP Communion service. Taking on board feedback about difficulties for some of our congregation in arriving for a service at 9am, we will be trialling the 9am service being moved to 10am instead – with the services on the 16th and 30th May being a contemporary communion, and the 23rd being a more informal service of morning praise.
As we look forward to the possibilities and potentials of services within St Mark’s once more, we welcome your feedback and comments as to how these changes may work for you. Please do feel free to get in touch via ‘takepart@penningtonchurch.uk’ to share your thoughts.
Funeral and Thanksgiving for Olive Richmond
Olive Richmond’s funeral will take place at Test Valley Crematorium on Thursday 20th May at 4pm. There are a few spaces available for church friends to attend too. If you would like to attend the service, please let Rachel know (vicar@penningtonchurch.uk 01590 462022). Family flowers only.
We will be having a Thanksgiving Service for Olive at St Mark’s Church on Wednesday 26th May, at 2pm, followed by Interment of Ashes in St Mark’s Churchyard. All are invited to attend this service, to support the family and to celebrate Olive’s life.
Donations in memory of Olive, are requested for the work of St Mark’s Church, Pennington. If you choose to make a donation, you can also leave a comment for Olive’s family with your donation, from the link below.

St Mark’s 2021 birthday present?
Last year, with the help of generous donations, St Mark’s was able to start live streaming services with the help of a dedicated camera in the building. As pandemic lockdowns through 2020 meant limited numbers in church for important life event services such as funerals, the equipment generously paid for from your donations also meant those who couldn’t be in the building for a funeral could also be a part via a live stream.
This year, we hope to grow in terms of how we stream live – and we’re incredibly grateful for the donations you’ve kindly made to help us to complete this goal!

Lords Prayer
We invite you to video yourself on your phone or computer reading the Lords’ Prayer. Please then email your recording to takepart@penningtonchurch.uk
We’re now showing the Lord’s Prayer in our services with each line read by a different person and we’d love to include as many of our congregation in this as we can. Please be brave, and join in the fun. (Trust me, it was strange for me to get used to leading the service in front of a camera or a phone too.) Others in the congregation will be so delighted to see you taking part, as we are each encouraged by seeing those that we know and love.
