Calling all singers!

The Lyndhurst Deanery Choirs Evensong takes place this year at St. Thomas’ church, Lymington, on Sunday 8th September.

This is almost an annual event – lapsed mainly through the pandemic – where singers from around the deanery can come together, encourage one another and enjoy, as they sing as massed voices in worship, music and praise.

Approximate timings are:

  • 4.00pm  Choir rehearsal
  • 5.15pm  Tea (will be provided)
  • 6.30pm  Evensong – to which the three C’s are all invited – Choirs, Clergy and Congregations.

At this stage, they would very much like to know numbers of people who would make up the choir (and will need feeding!!). If you are interested, please speak with Paul Young at church (or email ‘enquiries@penningtonchurch.uk’) – confirming:

  • Your Name (or names if replying on behalf of a group)
  • Voice part(s) (Sop, Alto, Tenor, Bass)
  • IF the service is live-streamed, any objections you have to being within range of a camera.

Details of the music will be made available shortly. Robes are optional – a few spares may be available on the day.

Friendship Tea

Our Friendship Tea team are having a well-earned summer break in August. So the next Friendship Tea will be on September 3rd from 2.30pm. Have a good summer holiday and see you in September ready to share your news over tea/coffee and deliciously good cakes. Our thanks to Pat and Shirley and the team for organising the teas throughout the year.

Study Group Update

The study group are taking a break in August for the holiday season.

If you are interested in finding out more about our studies from September, do please contact Jane Nicholson.

Summer Fair

Our Summer Fair will be held on Saturday 31st August from 10 – 12 noon in Pennington Community Hall. There is a basket at the back of church for donations for our fair – jigsaws, books, craft items, bricabrac etc. There will be a list at the back of church for volunteers for stalls, making cakes or helping with refreshments.

Parisian Afternoon Tea

Belmore Lodge (Colten Care) are organising an afternoon tea on Thursday 12th September from 2 – 4pm in aid of Parkinson’s UK research charity. There will be live music to accompany the refreshments, with a raffle at Boldre War Memorial Hall, Pilley, SO41 5QG. Tickets: £5 from Belmore Lodge or phone 01590 674700 or email: BelmoreLodgeCustomerAdvisor@ColtenCare.co.uk

Harvest lunch

We hope to host a simple salads and cold meat harvest lunch for midday on Sunday 6th October, at the Pennington Community Hall! Calling all volunteers who may be able to help and a confirmation of numbers who may want to attend. Forms for both to be available in church.

Licencing as LLM for Jane Nicholson

A date for your diary; the time to be confirmed, but keep the 12th October free so you can join us in celebrating our own Jane, as she is licenced as LLM after completing her studies!

Pennington Community Hub

The Fareshare Larder continues it’s successful work on Thursday in the Community Hall. But, for the moment we are not meeting afterwards from 2-4pm for refreshments. We are looking into alternative ideas for continuing this outreach work to strengthen the work in our community

Ecochurch Recycling

  • Milk Bottle tops: we are now collecting these as Stewarts Garden Centre are turning these into garden furniture!
  • Ground coffee/coffee bean packets: a notice at the back of church shows which bags are now being collected. Please support our effort to reduce waste.

Daily Prayer

With St Thomas in Lymington, we continue to ‘pray for our nation, for its leaders, its health and essential services and all those who suffer’ this week at 9am on Zoom. Led by members of St Mark’s and St Thomas congregations, this now runs Monday through Friday.

Daily prayer is also taking place in St Thomas church from 9am on Saturdays
