All Souls
Every year the Church remembers those we love who have died. The traditional name for this time is “All Souls”. At St. Mark we hold a special service to remember those who have died, especially those who have died in the last few years. This year the service will be on Sunday 31st October at 3 pm and will be followed by tea and refreshments to which everyone is invited. This service will also be live-streamed on our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/PenningtonChurch.
Over the years many people have found that this service has helped them to take a further step towards the healing of their memories and emotions as we remember those who have died and whom we have commended into the care of God. We extend a warm invitation to you to attend this service. Any members of your family and friends, who would like to come to the service, including children, will be very welcome. The service includes an opportunity to remember people by name. We will also have hymns and short readings.
At St Mark’s Church, we have a book of remembrance, where we can record the names of those that have died. If you would like to have your loved one remembered in this book, please do let us know via email to ‘takepart@penningtonchurch.uk‘
We do hope you will be able to join us and we look forward to welcoming you.
Get involved; would you like to contribute with readings or intercessions?
Key parts of a church services are in sharing the wisdom within our Bibles and through prayer, giving thanks and sharing our fears and concerns with our loving God.
If you would like to contribute to the work we do in the form of the readings or leading in prayer, do please get in touch – we’d love to include you in our services. You don’t have to be able to be in the building for reading either; we can include you pre-recorded too!
Get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
Monday study group
Are you interested in exploring your faith journey further outside of the Church services? Perhaps you would like to know more about some of the things we include in the service as standard?
If so may we invite you to join our study group on Mondays, from 10.30am to 12 noon on Zoom (details below).
This is a continuing Pilgrim Course looking at The Creeds in more detail. All are welcome and our sessions will be lead by Jane who is passionate about exploring faith and leading those discussions and wonderings that are not always possible in a service setting.
If you would like to join us, please email ‘takepart@penningtonchurch.uk‘ and we will be happy to welcome you.
Help shape the future of St Marks!
If you have a few minutes we’d appreciate your time to respond to a few questions that can help guide how we move forward:
Harvest Service at St Mark’s
…is not this Sunday from 9am as it seems the Lymington Times has printed! Our harvest service this year will be Sunday 24th October at 10am, and we invite people to bring items for the New Forest Basics Bank.
What do the Basics Bank need? Take a look at their website which tells you more: https://basicsbank.org.uk/please-donate-food-and-household-consumables/
4-week Creation Care Course
…is a unique collaboration between The Diocese of Chester, HeartEdge, Melanesian Mission UK and Southampton University. Only one week remains, but worth attending if you can!
In this 4-week Creation Care Course, we will provide you with vital information about climate change, its impacts on people, and reflect on our role as Christians in taking practical climate action.
- Week 4: Taking Action – Caring for the Environment, Caring for People (18 November 2021, 19.30-21.00), we will hear about various options for climate change mitigation and adaptation that we can take as individuals, as parishes and as a Christian community.
