BCM Taster Sessions

On Monday 2nd December from 7 to 8:30pm at Wolvesey or Thursday 5th December 2 to 3:30pm at Old Alresford Place, why not find out more about the Bishop’s Commission for Mission?  Why did 88 people put themselves through a BCM programme over the last year to become licenced at the Lay Ministries Service in October?  What is it all about?  And might it be for you too? If you have a heart for God’s mission, but feel you could do with more confidence to grow and develop in your chosen ministry area, then a BCM programme is for you. Before the diocese spring programmes start in January, they are offering two taster sessions where you can come and find out more and ask any questions you would like.  Attending a taster session does not commit you to taking a BCM, it is just an opportunity to explore.  Everyone is very welcome. More information about the spring programmes can be found on the diocesean website https://www.winchester.anglican.org/bcm/ – please speak to Paul or Rachel if you would like to attend one of the taster sessions.

Christmas Fair – can you help?

Continuing on the successes of previous years, Pennington Community Events are organising the 2019 Pennington Christmas Fair Event. It will be taking place on Friday 6th December, 6-8:30pm around Pennington Square and Priestlands Road – with favourites including Santa and his sleigh, live reindeer, fun fair rides, live music from local groups and lots of fun for the whole community. Supported by St Mark’s, Pennington Community Events are seeking to build on the successes of previous years, as an event organised by the community for the community. We have already done a lot to get this event organised. We are looking for support to ensure efforts go even further.

Can you help on the night?  A meeting for volunteers is coming up on the 19th November from 7pm at the Musketeer and all are welcome; alternatively, if you want to donate towards the work Pennington Community Events does, you can do so here:

Meditation Group

The Meditation group will be meeting on Monday 9th December in the Lady Chapel at 2:30pm. Mary Johnson will be leading this.  All are welcome.

Shoebox Appeal

Fifty shoeboxes have been sent on their journey to needy children for Christmas; most will go to Uganda and Cambodia. Shirley would like to thank those who filled boxes, donated items or gave money to help – and of course, a thank you for helping with the filled boxes in time for them to be sent away!

Remembrance Display

Do take a look at a display around the font for Remembrance – with a view to not only remembering those who have lost their lives in conflicts (including civilians and animals) but a reminder of the state of peace globally and some facts and statistics about the consequences of war, underlining why we all need to try and work towards peace and stability across the world.

CTLP Christmas Lunch

Christians Together, Lymington and Pennington, representing a wide range of faiths in Lymington and Pennington are hosting a Christmas lunch. On Sundays 1st, 8th and 15th December, they would be grateful for any suitable gifts – or an appropriate donation – for the Christmas tree, wrapped and labelled for a Lady or Gentleman (value around £2 to £4), for guests to take home. Please call Mike and Ann Reynolds on 01590 679084 for details; they advise they will have space for late guests too!

Skill Share Day

The last Lymington skill share day in the Community Centre was a huge success but they do need a few more electricians for the national skills share day on February 15th. So if you know anyone who might help please let Anne Elliott know.
