Recycling

Thank you to everyone for your amazing efforts with recycling, we’re doing really well and this is much appreciated by those who benefit from your collections.

Please do read the notices with the bins which give information on where the materials go, and what can and cannot be recycled – remember: if one non-recyclable item is found in a bag, the whole bag is binned.

Christmas is coming: can you help?

Pennington Community Events are ramping up in preparation towards Christmas 2019 – and are hoping to build on the successes of our Christmas event of 2018 and the summer event on the common earlier this year – with Pennington Christmas Lights on December 6th!

If you wish to host a stall, or know of anyone who does, application forms can be found on the Community Events webpage – www.penningtoncommunityevents.uk. Equally, if you want to join the committee to help plan and organise the event, they are keen to accept volunteers: please speak with Paul, Teresa or Rachel for further information.

Pilgrim Course – The Commandments

Our Pilgrim sessions are returning in the day too, taking the topic of the Commandments to task! Our fourth session is on Monday 4th November at 11am, and continues on the 18th November – to conclude on the 9th December (note, this has changed from the 2nd December to the 9th – but you are invited to enjoy mince pies with us on this last session!). Join us in the St Mark’s room!

Do you car share?

We’ve all heard about car sharing, and no doubt a number of you share lifts to come to church.   If this includes you, could you let Anne know please, as this information will give us more points towards our Ecochurch silver award, which we are working for at present.

Repair Café

Bin it? No! repair, reuse and recycle! On Saturday 9th November from 9:30am to 12:30pm, come along to the Lymington Community Centre where you can find repair stations for clothing, bicyles, electrical items and more!

Find out more about how to get the most from old or broken items, with free repairs (any parts to repair would be charged for) available on the morning.

Climate Emergency Talk

We are fortunate in having two excellent speakers at Brockenhurst Village Hall speaking on the current Climate Emergency at 7:00pm on Friday 8th November. Free entry, flyers with further details are available at the back of church. This promises to be an informative evening, promoted by the New Forest Zero Carbon Alliance.

Sing-a-long from the world wars

The Downton Brass Band will be playing a wide selection of songs from World War 1 and 2 at St Michael’s Church, High Street, Lyndhurst on Saturday 9th November 2019 at 4pm.  This is a ‘sing-a-long’ event which should prove a great afternoon for all – including local dementia groups and supporting families in the parish.

Tickets are £8 with 1 carer and children free.
