Study groups

Our Monday study group has now completed the Pilgrim Course looking at the Eucharist in more detail. It has been a good course with good conversation and a number of lightbulb moments!

For the next 4 weeks we are going to be doing a Lectio Davina study on one of the readings for the upcoming service. This involves reading the passage through followed by a short period of reflection before reading the passage again. We will then be discussing if any particular words or phrases stand out to us. It is a good way of dwelling in the Word.
All our welcome to join us on the Zoom link on Monday between 10.30am and 11.30am. We will then stay on Zoom for a general chat and coffee if participants wish to stay until 12 noon.

If you would like to join us, you will be very welcome.

We are also looking into starting an evening study group with a Zoom link and also meeting in the Lady Chapel at St Marks. If this is of interest to you, please let Jane know at vicar_pa@penningtonchurch.uk.

Update on Rachel

We are delighted to know that Rachel has been having some much better days recently and is beginning to venture out on some of these as part of her recovery strategy. However, she is still signed off from work duties.

Her main prescription is plenty of rest and recouperation and her visits out are vital for her continued mental wellbeing. At present no plans are in place for a phased return to work as she is still signed off. Rachel has asked us to pass on her very best wishes to everyone.

We are continuing to ensure that we keep her distanced from any Church business to aid her recovery! Your continued prayers and support are very much appreciated.

Churchyard Working Party

A date for your diaries – the first Churchyard Tidy for 2022 will be on 26th March 2022 between 10am and 12 noon. Do please come along with tools and enthusiasm and we will be happy to provide refreshments

Food larder

We’ve recently celebrated the first anniversary for the Food larder and the team continue to thrive as we provide much needed food in conjunction with Fare Share and the Basics Bank in Lymington. We started with approximately 15 families and now have around 40 families a week coming to the community hall on Thursday between 1pm and 2pm.

If you know of anyone who might benefit from this service, do please spread the word.

Lent Course

We are going to be working alongside other churches in the area to offer a range of dates and times for a Lent Course this year. If you are interested in joining in study together do please keep your eyes peeled for dates and times.

Get involved; would you like to contribute with readings or intercessions?

Key parts of a church services are in sharing the wisdom within our Bibles and through prayer, giving thanks and sharing our fears and concerns with our loving God.

If you would like to contribute to the work we do in the form of the readings or leading in prayer, do please get in touch – we’d love to include you in our services. You don’t have to be able to be in the building for reading either; we can include you pre-recorded too!

Get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.

Daily Prayer

With St Thomas in Lymington, we continue to ‘pray for our nation, for its leaders, its health and essential services and all those who suffer’ this week at 9am on Zoom. Led by Jane Nicholson from St Mark’s and Sarah Salisbury from St Thomas, this now runs Monday through Friday. Please do join them either by computer or phone:
