Rachel’s Story
As many of you know, our priest, Rachel, is open about the challenges she has faced in the past with mental health. Metro newspaper recently interviewed Rachel, to help open up curiosity and conversation about this important area, that is still subject to so much shame and stigma. The article can be read here.
Christmas lunch; can you help?
St Thomas are looking into the possibility of providing a Christmas Day lunch, as they had in previous years before Covid – and have found a cook for this year. However it will only be possible with enough volunteer helpers for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. As a ‘Churches Together’ event to support those in Lymington and Pennington, they are calling for volunteers and would be grateful to any who can offer their time to support. With only six more Sunday’s to go until Christmas day the clock is ticking to confirm volunteers: if you can support, do get in touch as we’d really like to help them to see this happen!
If you can help, do email ‘office@lymingtonchurch.org‘ for further details.
Get involved; would you like to contribute with readings or intercessions?
Key parts of a church services are in sharing the wisdom within our Bibles and through prayer, giving thanks and sharing our fears and concerns with our loving God.
If you would like to contribute to the work we do in the form of the readings or leading in prayer, do please get in touch – we’d love to include you in our services. You don’t have to be able to be in the building for reading either; we can include you pre-recorded too!
Get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
Monday study group
Are you interested in exploring your faith journey further outside of the Church services? Perhaps you would like to know more about some of the things we include in the service as standard?
If so may we invite you to join our study group on Mondays, from 10.30am to 12 noon on Zoom (details below).
We are about to start a new Pilgrim Course looking at The Eucharist in more detail. All are welcome and our sessions will be lead by Jane who is passionate about exploring faith and leading those discussions and wonderings that are not always possible in a service setting. This will also follow on from Rachel’s service on 7th November where she talked us through the meaning and background of the Communion Service.
If you would like to join us, please email takepart@penningtonchurch.uk and we will be happy to welcome you.
4-week Creation Care Course
…is a unique collaboration between The Diocese of Chester, HeartEdge, Melanesian Mission UK and Southampton University. Only one week remains, but worth attending if you can!
In this 4-week Creation Care Course, we will provide you with vital information about climate change, its impacts on people, and reflect on our role as Christians in taking practical climate action.
- Week 4: Taking Action – Caring for the Environment, Caring for People (18 November 2021, 19.30-21.00), we will hear about various options for climate change mitigation and adaptation that we can take as individuals, as parishes and as a Christian community.
