Covid 19
Following the Government’s decision to lift coronavirus restrictions amid decreasing infection rates, we no longer require those entering the building to attend services to wear a face covering in our services.
However, we still strongly encourage our congregation to wear face coverings whilst in the building (unless exempt) to drive down transmission of coronavirus and to keep each other as safe as possible.
As the daily statistics have disappeared from our news, please let us continue to stay safe and take care of our vulnerable neighbours as they navigate this season.
The following activities are taking place each week. All are welcome to join us:

Could you be a Foundation Governor?
We have the huge privilege that Pennington Junior School is a Church of England School. With great privilege comes great responsibility too. Foundation Governors have a special role in, and responsibility for, ensuring that the Christian character of the school is secured, preserved and developed and that the school is run in accordance with the trust deed relating to the school.
Foundation Governors are representatives of the Church of England on the Governing Body. They should endeavour to cultivate respect for the spiritual and moral beliefs of the Christian tradition, and to create a community in which pupils, cared for as individuals, are helped to find fulfilment as they grow towards adulthood..
Foundation Governors need to work with the PCC, with myself as the Priest here, with Kirstie our head teacher and with other members of the school’s Governing Body in upholding the school’s ethos statement. As Governors we have a responsibility to our school, to the pupils and our community, to support the school to be effective in terms of achieving and exceeding the standards expected by the government. Foundation Governors take on the full responsibilities of being a school Governor:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
- Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
The term of office is usually four years. The time commitment each year is 6 full governing body meetings a year, plus 6 sub-committee meetings per year. Alongside the meetings, you will need to allow time to prepare for the meetings, and time to visit the school. Could this be you? We have a vacancy for one Foundation Governor. If you would be interested in exploring this role, please contact Revd Rachel Noël (01590 462022 or vicar@penningtonchurch.uk)
Churchyard Working Party
On Thursday 9th June from 10 – 12 our team will be tidying up the churchyard, having a chat and enjoying light refreshments. There are some tools available in the shed but bring your own tools and gloves. Please join us if you can.
Recently bird boxes in the churchyard were investigated by a member of the RSPB to see if they had been visited. About 11 blue tit chicks were found and ringed. A great tit nest box had also been used but the chicks had fledged. In the autumn on 17th September we will be having a talk on ‘The birds of Lymington and surrounding areas’. Look out for details nearer the time.
